Folks,

I'm currently encountering a problem with the Tasks on my P800. When I synchronize my phone with MS outlook (Tasks, in particular) with the alarm set to a certain time, the alarm doesn't go off on the phone. I'm not sure if this has been the case since I bought the phone (almost a month now), but it was only lately that I noticed that I'm only reminded by outlook and not the phone.

I tried to troubleshoot the problem by creating tasks in MS Outlook with and without the due dates to see if it has any effects, but to no avail. However, when I create new tasks in the phone, or open and save tasks that were introduced into the phone during the synch process, the alarms for these tasks go off on the phone.

The problem doesn't seem to affect the Calendar appointments/reminders though because they have always been going off without a hitch.

I had a T68i before but did not encounter this problem. The Tasks alarm always went off without a hitch.

Thoughts, anyone?

Cheers

Ok. I stand corrected. I'm also encountering the same problem with my Calendar. It just so happened that I opened the entries that I had for the day/week which is probably why the alarm has been going off successfully.

Help, anyone?

Could it be a problem with the timezones? If your phone and outlook/PC are running on dirrerent timezones, it will change the times of the alarms.

Quite a few people had this problem, and I believe the latest version of SMan has the ability to fix it.

If it isn't the timezones, I don't know why your alarms aren't working. Do they work when you add them just on the phone?

No, my phone and workstation are on the same time zone (GMT+8).

Yes, the alarms work fine when added from the phone. The funny thing is that I was testing it for a few minutes today and I had a couple of alarms that went off successfully. What happened is that after getting the "Synchronization complete" message box, I waited until the phone monitor icon stopped moving (you know the icon that looks like an ECG/EKG when the phone is connected and communicating with the suite?). Then, that was the only time that I pulled the phone out of IR range.

So now, I'm not sure if I have been pulling the phone too soon before the PC phone communications have completed gracefully, and that's why the alarms were not set successfully.

Thoughts?

Exactly. Is there a way to get the synch-ed entries to consistently have their alarms go off on schedule? Getting an updated PC Suite perhaps? I'm still using the one from the CD that came in with the phone.

Hi!

This works fine for me.

I think you should try/check the following:

1) Is it the latest firmware in the phone?
2) Running latest SE sync-software?
3) Does the calender objects have the little reminder-bell at all?
4) Does it work to schedule from Px00 with alarm and sync to the pc?

Thanks for the information! Here are my responses to your questions:

1. Yes, I'm running on the R2F version (I believe that this is the latest for the P800)
2. No. I'll try this one.
3. When I first noticed the problem, no, the reminder bell did not exist. However, when I open the task/calendar entry, the alarm information is intact. Then, when I tap on the "return" button and go back to the list view, the little bell appears.
4. Yes, the task/calendar entry that I created on the phone gets synched up correctly with MS Outlook. The outlook alarm goes off for the phone-created entries after synch-up, if that's what you were asking.

Ok, the problem still persists even with the new Synchstation software. One thing I noticed though is that when a new task is added, the alarm goes off without any issues. However, when you update a task in MS Outlook and synch up the phone (which, theoretically, updates an existing record on the phone), that's when the problem occurs.

Any other thoughts?
