> K700 - problems with SMS delivery report
Bookmark topic
I have a K700, sim free and unbranded, which I use on Orange. Orange support SMS delivery reports. But strange things seem to happen when I turn on the delivery report option on my K700.
This is complicated to explain. Sometimes it seems that when I go to send a text message to somebody, an extra screen appears between selecting who to send the text message to and the actual sending of it - one that gives the name and various other details and says "Delivery Report - off" [even when I've turned it on]. This has appeared even when I've sent text messages another person in the previous half hour and got delivery reports back. But when this extra screen appears - seemingly for no reason at all - I don't get a delivery report back. It has happened with this particular contact a couple of times now. Sometimes I can get delivery reports from this contact, sometimes I can't.
I thought it may be because this contact is on O2. However it seems not, because when sending SMS to another contact also on O2, the delivery report comes back just fine and I don't get that extra screen with other details.
I know this is a bit garbled but it's a strange set of circumstances and one that has been going on since I got the phone. I don't always want delivery reports, but sods law dictates that the one person I DO want a delivery report from - this strange situation happens.
Has anyone got any explanation or thoughts on this?

Sorry guys I've just realised that I posted about his before in a different thread some 3 weeks ago - forgotten I'd done it! Anyway, I've still got the problem. Any suggestions?
Also I have been told that the handset will receive a message from the Orange that the SMS has been delivered safely anyway - turning on the delivery report option merely makes the handset show this information? And also that the Orange system will keep trying to deliver the SMS if it doesn't get a 'received' message back from the receiving handset?
