Below you'll find the answer I got on my question about the possibility for using MP3 as a Ringtone on a Vodafone Branded K700i. I'll try to translate it a bit:
They say that Voda supports the music-industry the prevend sharing of Rintones, Music, Games etc. The ringtones should have a DRM (Digital Right Management) protection in it. SE has forgotten to inscript their MP3 rintones with DRM so thats why Voda users can't even use the Ringtones that came with the phone!
Voda will try to give some DRM inscripted MP3 Ringtones on their wbsite as soon as possible, so as I read somewhere that in september Voda would give MP3 use free...... I don't think that will be the case in the Netherlands! (why didn't they tell this sooner........)
They even say that the ringtones availeble ontheir website now ar more than compensating the missing of the MP3 options.......

Wij hopen er spoedig voor te zorgen dat het eveneens voor de Sony Ericson toestellen mogelijk zal worden deze MP3 Files te downloaden.

So you're saying because the K700i doesn't support any digital music rights that Voda won't let the K700i use MP3 ringtones? Aren't Vodafone being a bit out of order. My fiancee can't put anything on her phone (Sharp GX20) unless it's from vodafone due to their dodgy policy's and software. Do Voda thing that they're going to loose money if someone sends a MP3 ringtone to a friend via BT for nothing?
Why anyone would choose Vofafone is beyond me! :s
