Hey all... I'm a new P800 user. Got some questions, please help me
1. I can bluetooth send contacts and tasks, but not pictures or music or any other file, even though we're already paired. No .txt either. haven't tried receiving stuff, because my computer tries to use "file transfer" service and the phone doesn't have it. Any ideas?
2. I can't use the bluetooth to replace the usb cable. I can't even connect the computer with the usb yet. (continues)
3. I used the SyncStation, but the computer always installs it as -11. I think the normal usb connector people use are -10. is something wrong here?
4. Any ideas how i can use an mp3 as a ringtone? convert it into some other format? anyone knows a good converting program? (not into wav though)

that's it for now but they're pretty important thanks!

1) Try the file Manager in the flip open to send across any medial files

Hi OmnixBro,
Here are some suggestions for your problems....
1. Use Sman or Wiresend to transfer any file you like from your phone to your PC (or any Bluetooth device). You can download these apps from http://www.my-symbian.com
To transfer files from PC to phone, easiest way is to use sync-station, even over bluetooth. Or you can use a small program on your phone called bemused, which lets you download files from your PC over Bluetooth. It also controls winamp MP3 player remotely.

2. If you can get the phone connection monitor to recognise your phone over bluetooth, you should be able to do most things you can do using USB, except backup phone. Make sure you have added a Bluetooth serial port in the local services tab of bluetooth properties on your PC, make a note of which COM port it is. Then make sure that the phone connection monitor is checked for bluetooth on this COM port. That's all you should need to do.

3. Not sure about your USB problem, just try reinstalling from the CD again.

4. To convert an MPŁ to wav for a ringtone use something like dbpoweramp music converter. Any wav format will work I think, but no need to make it too large so low quality os fine for the phones speaker. Saves you space on your phone that way.

I hope that helps, good luck with the new phone!

I have usb BT dongle and i use WIDICOMM Bluetooth software for it. Since i started to use widicomm i have no problems transfering any kind of files both directions. I tested the same on notebook with integrated BT. The same - everything works ok.

thanks all... i'm using a usb card reader to transfer files for the time being. i think the problem isn't the bluetooth itself, since i can't connect with the USB anyway, and the bluettoth serial connection is supposed to be replacing the USB serial connection.
yeah i've installed and re-installed everything and made it listen to every port, but even though it says "connected" in one window, the "change device" window doesn't list any devices.

the other question is about file transfer... am i *supposed* to be able to file transfer? ie. send pictures and music to other phones, for example. and receive?

thanks!

I'm also confused with the "space" function on the P800. The previous one I used had the "space" function on the "#" keypad (same as T610, z600, P900). However, my other P800 has the "space" function on the "1" keypad.

Any help will be appreciated.
