I was reading the news here on Esato and i was wondering.

Since the name is similar, and it supports MS DUO's is this an SE phone?

The article doesn't say anything about that

Yes - NTT DocoMo's phone model naming convension is easy to work out

it's in the Format

Manufacturer-Series Number-OperationModel-OtherTags

For Example:
So506iC means
Sony-506series-iMode-FeliCa

This is a shrt list of manufacturers:
So - SonyEricsson
N - NEC
D - Mitsubishi
SH - Shaprp
F - Fujitsu
T - Toshiba
P - Panasonic

In similar fashion, Vodafone Japan's modelling system is:
V(for Vodafone) - Model Numer - Manufacturer

hence V602SH means it's Vodafone-602-Sharp

Au and other carriers also use a familiar system, so you can work out a lot about a phone fromit's name

A few more additions:

Sa is for Sanyo
Ca is for Casio
K is Kyocera

and if you wonder why D is for Mitsubishi, the reason is Diamond is the symbol of Mitsubishi (literally, 3 diamonds), hence the D.
