GPRS, WAP, MMS and Email setup
> Fastmail, IMAP and P900?
Bookmark topic
Hi all,
I did a search and couldn't find an answer to this problem I'm having.
I registered for a free account with
www.fastmail.fm, and tried to setup my P900 with their IMAP settings. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work. I receive the following error message when trying to connect:
"The IMAP4 server refused to allow a connection. Check your mailbox username and password." Needless to say, I made sure my mailbox username and password are correct.
I should mention that I have no problem browsing the web, checking my email on a POP3 account, or sending MMS, so it's something specific to do with Fastmail.
Can anyone offer some advice and/or guidance?
Many thanks,
Vlad.

Thanks for a very quick reply.
Just did that - no luck.
One thing, not sure if it's relevant. Fastmail free service doesn't provide SMTP settings, i.e. only receive, recommending to use your ISP's SMPT server. So when I was first setting up my account, I left all SMTP settings blank. P900 complained essential data was missing, but still let me create it. It didn't work. So I then entered O2 SMPT server's details in there and tried again, still not working... Currently, there are O2 SMTP server details in there. Not sure if this is relevant at all...
Thanks, further advice greatly appreciated.
Vlad.

That is not important, smtp can be used alone indeed. I think ports n your Isp are the problem

Fastmail IMAP works fine for me on Orange (UK). I have a paid for account and use FM's smtp as well. What I can't do is work out a way of configuring the mail client to save sent messages to IMAP server - anyone any ideas? (I'm not that bothered if I can't access sent mail folder, but would like to be able to save them efficiently).
