Has anyone ever dismantled a P900?

Just saw some links on how to dismantle the SEP900

1. http://ripkord.myby.co.uk/P900mechanical.pdf
2. http://www.uselessinfo.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/dismantlep800.htm
3. http://www.p800.it/Tutorial%20video%20montaggio.htm (super!!).

I think its just too dangerous to play with this. I have this bad habit to dismantle stuff (I almost spoilt my old Motorola C350 trying to change its key pad). Anyone who opens the PDF will agree with me. Even changing the cover seems like hanging yourself.

Anyone done this with ease?

Its a bad idea to toy around with the phone unless its really necessary

It's a bad idea to do it when it's not necessary. But I realy hate scratches and stuff, so it it's good to know you can get all the parts and install them yourself!

But when needed, I'll probably get mine fixed by an authorize SE Repaircenter I'm just not good with these thing

I am in India. Here its better I do it myself if needed than ask the SE people to do it. They will screw the whole thing and tell me it was screwed before!

Took mine to pieces after dropping it in water to dry it out. Only tricky part was removing the circuit board because of the external ariel socket (pushing on the socket with the stylus worked). Follow the instructions carefully and it's no problem.

i have changed my p900 housing and at first I was thinking like you what if i do something wrong. but once you do it you will realise its not such a big thing. once you've opened the fone once and put it back together you'll basically be a pro. trust me. obviously a bit of patience and care is required in saying that

I've changed many P900 cases, but the you have to be cautious every single time you do it. You need to take it really slowly and be VERY careful about the jogwheel ribbon cable.

It's positioned in such a way that if you lift up the mainboard too much then the thin ribbon cable WILL tear, and you will be left with a useless jogwheel.

If you unscrew the two screws holding the large silver plate on top of the mainboard, take it off, and then gently unclip the board and lift it up from the right hand side, then you will see both the jogwheel cable and the screen cable. Use a screwdriver with a flat head to unplug the jogwheel/screen, and then you have no danger of destroying anything.

Also, remember to double check you've taken both the SIM card and the Memory Card out, otherwise you can seriously damage the phone if you forget and start pulling it open like i did..
