i have just got a trust bt180 100m bluetooth key, and i know the phone only covers 10m. but i cant seem to get the software provided with the phone to detect...

only want to get my numbers etc off any ideas ppl

Depending on your OS, you may have to install the BT software drivers separately. Read the manual/instructions that came with your BT dongle.
