Please tell me there is a way to do this!? There must be, how could they ignore something as useful as this!
The screen is actually in a more video friendly ratio when the screen is on it's side. I find that a lot of my videos come from a ratio similar to that of wide screen, so if you maintain ratios in the crunch you end up with over 50% of the screen being wasted!
If there is a way of doing this then I'm going to clear all the pictures and videos and put an episode of the Simpson's on my phone everyday for the tube journey into the city!!

I dont think there is. And why should there be such as option ?
SE didnt intend people to watch movies or tv shows on their K700, if they did SE would have added a Duo port.

Very true, but still if the phone has the capability of playing videos and a great screen why not make the most of it?
Adding full screen functionality in a landscape view would be simply a software matter. Adding a duo socket would be a whole different matter

I agree it would be nice & probably could have been done but it hasn't which is a shame but no major problem.
If u really want full screen video then invest in a P-Series! Also if u get a 128MB duo u can have about 4 or 5 Simpsons episodes dn one card

K700 was designed to playback MPEG4 Simple Profile @ Level 0 which support max resolution 176x144 pixels.
I think this is the main reason that SE choose 176 pixel as its horizontal resolution.
This mean K700 can play 176x144 video at 1:1 in portrait mode.
If you want full screen. K700 must up scale the video and playback in landscape mode. I don't think that is too much for K700 CPU. (I may be wrong.)

sounds logical - I also beleive quality would suffer by the upscaling

I have the z1010, and its got a duo-port, but you cant watch full screen. And i am having problems with watching mp4movies. The phone wont allow them to be stored when i try to transfer... But i upgraded the firmware today and havent tried again. I think the k700 has the same mediasystem as the z1010.

6600 allows vids to be in landscape. But only with real player and it does affect the quality
