I have bought 2 different microjack to minijack adapters to allow me to listen to music off my p800 through both my stereo and higher quality sony earphones. However, the music is continually being interrupted when the phone appears to think the button has been pressed on the supplied hands free kit although it is not even attached! A beep is heard and the phone waits for a voice tag to be spoken. Has anyone experienced this problem when connecting different headphones through an adapter? Does anyone know a cure?

Yeah, that did the trick! thanks. Bit of a pain having to turn voice dialling on and off though. Can't use my bt headset with it turned off

It's not ok though, because a wrong command is continuously sent to the phone (a short between two pins of the phone jack). A good adaptor shouldn't do this

a good adapter? to my knowledge all the adapters I have seen have 3 contacts. Whereas the p800/p900 has 4 contact points. The ground and the contact that goes to the button are connected together due to that minor difference. However I noticed that that dialing occurs when the headset jack is slightly moved.

My solution was using a cheap nokia 3300 series 2.5mm headset (has 4 separate contact points like p8' and p9' headset) and cutting the end of and splicing it to the headphone adapter. Leaving the button wire disconnected. A little labour but it worked.
