Hi,
Does anyone know how to only to convert say the first 20 to 30 seconds of an mp3 into a wav instead of converting the mp3 and what program would I need to do this?

Use nero wave editor (thats what i use) . These are loads of such software available. Have a search in download.com

Adobe audition is a full soft for this kind of things,but why you want to convert into wav? mp3 is far better

Try using mp3splitter and joiner for cutting mp3s and dbpoweramp to convert them to wav.
