Why do you want a gmail account?
There has been loadsa rumours about spying on mail etc inside the account. Just wait a few months and hotmail will have 250mb storage which is more than enough for an email account.

Just wanna see what all the fuzz is about...since google developed a superior search engine thought that maybe they had the brains to come up with a great email solution...apparently not but i still want to give it a try

autum time i think, they are also upping the file size limit for sending documents to 10mb i think, and 20mb for premium users. It is fairly cheap as well at £14.99 a year.
