> RE: PHONE VIRUSES
Bookmark topic
Are this true, have you ever heard in your locality or country regarding rumours of an alleged virus roaming around that destroys the phone IMEI thru SMS. It allege that when you open a certain message (SMS) or email ( maybe) that you're phone become infected and will be unusable since it destroy the IMEI.
I once encountered an email which I downloaded to my phone (T39) which when I open, the phone went dead ( it turn off ) but when I switched it back on, it work as if nothing happens.
please share your opinion. thanks
I LOVE THIS SITE! GREAT WORK LAFFEN

I haven't heard that a SMS could erase the IMEI. But roumours said that is was possible to send a special SMS to some Nokia models to make them crash. It was nothing a removal of the battery not could solve.
I don't think the hardware or operating systems in todays phone are powerfull enough to host and replicate a virus.
At least not before Microsoft software infects the phones

I think that u should not worry about these things as long as the Phones software is stored in a memory that is not editable by the phone itself.
I do not believe in such a virus.. maybe in the few coming years though...
cheers

Microsoft does! It was codename Stinger, now called Smartphone 2002. Now I'm getting worried.

actually there is a "virus"/SMS that can do more damage than that, removal of battery doensät solve, you have to put the SIM-card in a phone that doesn't have the same security glitch, it's a dutch securityexpert that has discovered this. So far only 6210, 3330 and 3310 has been tested.
Swedes can read about it here:
