just tried to copy the "soul.mp3" file from the phone to my hdd using SE filemanager and a p900 dss-25 and it is rediculously slow considering the file is absolutely TINY at 88kb.

any ideas whats going on? this is insanely slow, its gonna take like a minute or longer for this 88kb file.

i checked the dss com port (com4) under xp device manager and have tried setting it to 128000 bits per second instead of 9600 but it didnt seem to help.

What is your tipe of conection: irDA, cable, or bluetooth? If you have irDA or cable conection, I recomend you to buy bluetooth. This message was posted from a K700i

I'd think 128000 would work, but I've seen the maximum speed listed being 115200, maybe give that a try?

hmmm so should i be setting flow control to anything? hardware or xon xoff?

i set it to 115200, tried non, hardware and xon/xoff flow control (and ticked the forced xon/xoff box under advanced) and rebooted each time, and nothing makes any difference to the speed what so ever.

mine is also very slow (tried to send a 3mb mp3 to phone, after 2 mins the status bar hadn't even moved), luckly i only got it for the online update when it becomes available, so also have BT which can go at over 30Kb/s.

surely it cannot be normal to go at such rediculously slow speeds, ive heard others complain about it too, its a joke. how the hell can a wireless bluetooth connection go at something like 10 times the speed of a difrect cable usb connection? what the hell

yeah my normal data cable is faster, try using the dss with FMA program to see if it is just the kak software that comes with dss that slows it down

Cableconnection is much slower than BT because even if the cable is USB it does not use the USB speed which is between 1.5mbit and 480mbit depending on usb type - it use a serial emulation which is about the slowest thing on a computer. Max speed of serial emulation 115.000bps is the same as a 56.6 modem - if you have ever tried one of those you know how slow that is.

But that said - yours seem to be extraordinary slow for some reason.
It shouldent take more than a minut to transfer 88kb using serial cable emulation.

My best advice would be to get a bluetooth adapter - much faster and much easier - and only use the cableconnection for firmwareupdates.

already had a bluetooth dongle (blue monkey one from expansys) and found it to be complete crap, the drivers were just awful and it did nothing but drive me mad.
