Goddamn! they must be joking.

Sh'yeah as if I would let my phone get anywhere near one of those. I remember taking the "magnet out of a fridge" into school and put it against the computer monitor and some of the colours that "appeared", well lets just say I didn't hang around for long!

a comp monitor is not a phone i E speakers in my room i mean 1000W 15" speakers and the magnets are HUGE and very very powerfull i put my phone on the cabnet all the time and it never ever goes funny- but i know what you mean about the monitor i put my TV on one of these speakers when i was moving my room round and the screne went purple and never went back again so i took it back and played all innocent (it just whent like that sir) lol

but in short - no it wont unless u get a SERIOUS magnet-i mean the ones that they have for brain scans in hospitals

FYI, the official Sony Ericsson case (IEC-20) uses a fairly strong magnet as the latching mechanism.

Most tv/pc monitors use a cathode ray tube to display images. These work by firing high energy electrons at a phosphorescent screen through a metal grid. This stream of electrons leaves a single "pixel" wherever it strikes the screen, and the beam is directed to the right place at the right time by a series of electromagnets. If you hold a magnet to the screen, it will disrupt the flow of electrons, as they will be attracted to or deflected by the magnet, depending on its polarity. A magnet held to the screen can also induce a permanent magnetic field in the cathode ray tube's metal grid, which will permanently disrupt the electron stream unltil it is 'de-gaussed'.
Your phone has no cathode ray tube or magnetic field sensitive parts, so its safe to use a magnet near it.

translation = no it wont harm the phone :P lol but you do haveto stick a magnet to the back of it just a thin one- if u look at the pic u can see it just on the back

I am having this kind of 'Q' on my mind for the past month , since I bought my SE K700i though. I am always placing the unit inside a leather case which uses 'magnet' to have it closed . I am just wondering if those magnets just have any effect when my fone which is placed inside the case The magnet and my fone is literally and figuratively very close to each other - 'inside' ! Though I am not noticing newer problems with the fone, aside from the 'bugs', which I guess is 'pre-installed' with the unit . . .

That because speakers are shielded so the magnets in them don't do any damage
