hey.. can anybody tell me what is firmware updates and how good is it to update firmwares, does it really helps. n do SE care to listen to such huge user options n implement their requests.

Fw upgrades fix former bugs of faulties in the fones software or get some new features. Its suggested to have the latest one for an effective use.

does a latest phone comes with all the patches coz just abt 15 days back i got a t630 and recently i read in the forum that t630 has a new FW. is it necessary for me to update the FW. n how do i check what is my FW version. will it contain some new feature.. n what are the new features in the recent FW of t630

i just checked from the service menu and the sw it shows is R4C003 and now how do i get it updated. does visiting service center helps ?

to check firmware u press:
joystick right, * , joystick left, joystick left, *, joystick left, *
Then click service info and then sw information and ure fw version is the first 6 characters eg R3C002 or R4C004 or R6C005 or something like that. And if u bought ure fone 15 days ago it probably has a rather new firmwarre but you can never be sure. it depends when they got the fone. if they sold u an old stock, then it prob has an older f/w
edit: yes you visit a sony ericsson service center and if ure in warranty they upgrade your fone for free

dont expect too much though. it wont add any major feature to your fone! i think newest firmware R6C006 ugrades the screen and the camera and makes it a bit faster. I might be wrong though...
