During installation of the P900 PC Suite I got the message "Connection to the sync-station-database (hermes.mdb) was not installed properly. Create the ODBC-connection to the database manually".

From the sony-ericsson hotline I was instructed to use the windows program odbcad32.exe with the options -> System DSN -> add. However, I was unable to locate the file with odbcad32.

hermes.mdb resides on (as shown by the result of an explorer search)
C.
Documents and Settings
All Users
Application Data
Sony Ericsson
Sync Station

With odbcad32 I made it only to "All users", the lower directories "Application data etc" where not shown. Perhaps, because there are system-files, hidden files or whatever ...

I'm working on a standalone notebook with administrator rights.

This prevents me from using all the P900 sync features

Many thanks for helping.

by default, "Application Data" is a hidden folder.

go to control panel, folder options, click on the view tab and then click on "show hidden files and folders"

you should then be able to see it

Thanks for helping, but changing the settings does not show the directories Application Data and below in odbcad32.exe.
However, the files are shown now in the explorer, but that doesn't help me.

appologies but yes, I tried running ODBCAD32 myself and it still doesn't see the Application Data folder.

How weird. Well I will investigate further. Might be something in the microsoft support knowledgebase
