Ok, this is the dilemma.
At the moment I am paying £26/month for 200 mins/50 texts with Orange. I can upgrade to the K700 for free (with Orange customisations). (Plus if I threaten to leave they should give me some GPRS).
OR I could leave Orange to join Vodafone (through onstopphoneshop, NOT customised to Vodafone), get the K700 for free on a tariff for £31/month, £80 cash back and 3 months halfprice. (200mins and 50 texts/month)
Which would you do. Joining Vodafone saves me about £30-£40 over the year, but despite Orange annoying me recently I am inclined to think they are the best network.
Which would you do?
I have no desire for more mins or texts from either since I would not use them - GPRS data would be useful though.
Personally I think it all comes down to whether I can get the K700 from Orange unlocked and uncustomised - if I could I would go with them. If not......

I'd ring Orange customer relations (not customer services), and ask for your PAC saying you're going to the "3" network for their select 500 tariff at £25 a month for 500 mins, and Orange will probably match it. More info on uk.telecom mobile news group here:
http://groups.google.co.uk - just do a search. If they won't match it ring back again - you don't have to use the PAC to port your number.

I am aware Vodafone disable function. However, Orange do so also. If I stick with Orange I get disabled functions and have to get the phone flashed - at the moment no one is sure when or even if this will be possible for the K700.
However if I go to Vodafone via OneStopPhoneShop I can get an unbranded phone.
As for getting them to match the 3 tariff. An option yes, but I seldom use all 200 mins anyway, always use the 50 texts (which I wouldnt get with 3 tariff, worth £5), and my main priority is lowering my monthly bill, not getting more minutes.
Further thoughts...

Also Vodaphone online 100 tariff has 100 mins and includes free £6 extras pack (equivalent to 50 texts or 16 picture messages). The phone is £30 on a 12 month contract. It would be Voda branded though... Total cost over 12 months is only £210 though... and I doubt it will be long before it can be unbranded with a firmware upgrade for £15. It's a good deal if 100 mins is enough for you
You won't get an unbranded phone on Orange from anywhere, but you may be able to get one on Voda from a Carphonewhorehouse shop... if you ask nicely
but then the tariif will be more than £15 pm

All of the high street stores I visited could offer me an unbranded K700 on Vodafone. None of them could do it on Orange. I'm not sure why.

OSPS confirmed on the telephone their phones are not customised. Should this turn out not to be true I would return it under their 14 days guarantee. Personally I dont think 100 mins a month would be sufficient for me.
At the end of the day: which is a better company, Orange or Vodafone?
What will be the chances of getting an Orange phone uncustomised?

I got my unbranded K700 from phones4u on a crossnet 200 tariff (200 cross network mins, 50 text and some GPRS (Not sure how much)) for £27 per month. Arrived this morning so is on charge at home, god work will drag today!!!

Orange customer services have become terrible, and i've been with them for over four years, but this maybe my last year with them especially if things get worst. but my advice is to save cash wherever possible.
