My guide: it's extremely easy to do. With caveats.
In the UK, go to Rymans, look for OHP transparencies, and choose the black and white laser stuff - about £4 for 10, but they're on offer at the mo for about £5 for 20. They last a long time (one A4 sheet supplies many covers). I think the B&W ones are the thinnest they have.
Measure p900 screen with a ruller. Add 2 millimeters to the left and right sides (ie 4 mm of width, looking at the phone in portrait orientation) and cut out. So, exactly same size vertically (or about 1mm extra top and bottom, but no more), and width+4mm wide.
Optional step: if you've used a vertical overlap, then cut off the corners of the rectangle, ie a triangle of about 1mm on each side in each corner. This helps in installing cover.
Now wipe screen clean, then slide left side in to left, not too far, but enough to hide overlap, then gently apply pressure with sweaty thumbs to screen/protector and bend the acetate so that you can slip the other side in on the right. Adjust if required, and smile.
HOWEVER: i come from a PDA heritage, and never touched my screen without a protector (!). So the VERY first thing i did on the day my p900 arrived was knock up an acetate protector and slipped it in. Unfortunately i foobarred my touch screen - i had given a 3mm overlap at the top and bottom, and subsequently my p900 touchscreen stopped responding to touch at the top of the screen. Somehow i must have damaged the sensor contacts or something. Hence my warning not to overlap too much vertically, if at all. Perhaps i was just unlucky.
Good old orange tho! I got a whole new box sent out next day...
My advice: a company called pda-addons on ebay sells screen protectors - the p900 ones are slightly small, i advise going for toshiba e800 since they're the biggest they sell, so u can also use em on your pda, and also cut them down for the p900. you get 12 for £5. they are more transparent then the acetate, easy to apply (not terribly sticky, so easy application/removal), and last longer than acetate. Acetate scratches quite easily, so you have to replace fairly often (1 or 2months or so i guess?)
However, out of the box the pda-addons protectors look slightly scratched. Maybe i was unlucky, but it doesn't make much difference. Recommended over acetate IMHO - and i've used acetate for a long time! Tip: if buying from pda-addons, use their shop, don't buy from their auctions. It's a tedious and longwinded process, and the shop is slightly faster.
Tell me how it goes!
