I am starting to get frustrated at my cell phone. I don't know if its actually my phone or my provider. I am on my third T616 and all the time people seem to call me and my phone doesn't ring. It takes a long time to get SMS, but I always seem to get voicemail in a timely manner. I am just starting to get really angry about this, cause my cell phone is my primary means of communication.
Do you all think its Cingular or just my T616?

It's your provider. I know a few people on cingular, all with different handsets, that have this same problem.

Is the phone not ringing or are you just not hearing it? The ring is not really all that loud on that model and it has been a problem for alot of people certaint midi files set as ringtones seem to make it worse. as far as the sms problem goes if you are eventually recieveing them then that is almost certaintly your provider I would file a complaint or make a call to them if they are not giveing you the service you expect most companies will throw you a deal if they think you are going to jump ship.

The phone is not ringing, and it is also not displaying a missed calls icon. I have not tried my sim in my old spare nokia since the phone is in my room at school. I can't be sure if my mom is having the same problem with her nokia because I don't know if anyone has been calling her, and she doesn't use SMS.
I have had this problem before and Cingular has replaced my phone. I think its Cingular and I plan to call and complain.

First, have you tried to call your mobile from a fixed line or from your mom's handset (for example) and watching your mobile all the time to see if it works or not?
Second, maybe you should check also the firmware version of your phone. I don't think it has anything to do with your problem but might help speeding the phone up (especially the SMS) when using the latest version.

The SMS problem (ie. they are not coming through) is a network problem, network traffic, call your SP bout that. The ringtones are a phone disadvantage, the arent the best of phones for ringtones from what I hear. Set a IMY as a ringtone and see what happens...

try the sim of a different network on it. if its works, its your provider. I'm betting on your provider because its simply not possible to get 3 faulty phones in a row.
