Hi, my GPRS (Which was activated about 10 minutes ago) is as slow as WAP, Any advice?

Also, when i select sms over gprs they dont send, they only get sent over GSM.

Also, when i have been on WAP, and close it, it is still asking if i want to disconect, is this right? It deffinatly isnt using WAP over GSM as it isnt dialing up.

Just send using GSM I don't think it really makes much difference.

Yes it will ask you to disconnect - the beauty with GPRS is you can leave it on all the time. If you were using GSM when you conect it would show the number you were dialling. You can always check by using the volume slider to give you the status when connected - it will say GPRS not GSM.

Have you tried O2's GPRS settings yet? BTW GPRS can slow down depending on the amount of traffic using it at any one time this may be the reason why it's slow at the moment although I never noticed it slow down much on voda.

The phone will always ask to disconnect from wap, but if you press 'no' whilst on gprs u stay connected but can still recieve voice calls , which u can't do when online with a dialup wap server.

So it is not like broadband internet where as soon as the computer is on so is the internet ?with gprs you have to always connect when the phone is turned on but then you can keep it on and as long as it is not recieving data it is not costing anything? T This post was posted from a T68

Gprs accesses the same wap pages as a dialup server but u can leave it on all the time, only paying for the pages u download, so for example while viewing football latest scores u can leave it on the page u are viewing and refresh that page say every 5 mins and u only pay for that page u download each time. On dial up every second u are reading a page or loading a page it is costing money. Also when on gprs u can still recieve incoming calls, which u cannot on a dialup acc.
My gprs (on orange) is a lot faster than dialup but I suppose it can differ. It is dependent on signal strengh.

Normally, although to get my emails , through my gprs mail account I have to disconnect gprs wap to then connect to get my emails.
Because it takes only a short time to connect to gprs its no big deal so I don't really think about it.

Thanks a lot for your help mate, im gonna be a real pain in the ass and asking another question.

If i was to stay connected all day and all night, would that drain battery the same amount like was connected to GSM wap? or not?

Also, i had my pop3 email set up and works fine dialing up....but wont work over GPRS, any ideas? One more thing!! Do u send SMS over GPRS and is it quicker? Just that, that doesnt work on mine wither! (o2 - t68)

Been connected to gprs does not drain the battery any more than normal. I had problems with gprs mail, until I rang orange who then told me how to do it over the phone. I have never tried to send sms over gprs, I can't see it making any difference because u pay for a sms per message sent, not on amount of time or data sent. Are u with orange or someone else?
