I'm on T-mobile netowrk at the moment and looking to get hold of the Sony Ericsson Z1010 handset.

I spoke to a few people and they said you cant use your T-mobile sim card in the Z1010 handset as it wont really work. They said to me you will be only be able to make/receive calls but no SMS, MMS as 3G handsets work on different band.

T-Mobile themselves say we dont support 3G Handsets and wont be ready until December this year until T-Mobile works on 3G handsets.

How true is this? It says on Z1010, GSM 900, 1800 and UTMS so wouldnt that mean it would work on T-mobile as it supports GSM 900/1800?

Ok the problem I had when I tried my T-mobile sim card was that it kept trying to connect to the 3g network and hence rendering the phone useless as it kept searching for a 3g signal. (Even if you tried to select the network manually it would stay for a few minutes the deactivate.

You can sms,mms (if you have a network) on 2g. Basically what I would say is the Z1010 is not really suited for the 2g network and would be like buying a ferrari to drive in a 30Mph zone all the time, with lots of speed BUMPS. So I suggest if you are really dying for the Z1010, then either wait for T-mobs to hook it up or switch to 3.

Goodluck
