Ok i been searching the net (including these forums) for a while now.
I got a lot of information, but i'm sorta new to this stuff so if someone can just clarify it a little bit...
Is there a program that i can load to my phone to use AIM?
My T616 does NOT come with AIM loaded on it. So i was wondering what the easiest way to get it on there? Do it just through my wireless internet on my phone? is there a program to use? or do i just use Text messaging? Do i use the "sign on" "sign off" commands??
Sorry if i sound lost, but i am kind of lost, so many options, i just want some advice, what do u think i should do?
Oh and i havent signed up for wireless internet yet on my phone, its new and i have cingular phone service, just waiting to figure out the best route to go...

I have not yet found a really good solution to this problem yet. So far the best program is cmessenger, but this is just decent at best. There are multiple wireless internet ways to get on yahoo or msn messenger, but AIM still has no good solution.
Just keep looking and report back if you find something really worthwhile

See if a software upgrade does the trick. The SE T637 (Cingular) which is almost identical to the T616 has AIM on it.

Cingular is very stingy about upgrading firmware and are more likely to replace your phone over a firmware issue than upgrade your firmware. Moreover, although they no longer sell the T616 in their stores by me, they still have them in stock, so they do not replace T616's with T637's at this time.
And I wouldn't mess with trying to get T637 firmware onto a T616 just to get AIM.

this won't allow you to have your buddy list and all, but it will put a mobile icon next to your screen name on AIM, and forward all of your IMs to your phone. Just go to the preferences, and privacy, and select IM forwarding, then follow the instructions from there. Its a messy workaround, and i still haven't figured out how, if there is a way, to save your buddies into your phone.
