Hi. My Mom received a k700i from the globe for good promo. My questions are:
- What are the usual defects of this phone? What should be checked? It still has 6 days remaining replacement warranty..
- I need a good case where you can use it without removing it from the case (my mom is a very clumsy user). Anyone knows where it's available?
- What is the latest firmware here in the Philippines? R2L, R2e?
Thank you very much

As per my experience, there are no hardware defects on the K700i. But as was posted here before, sometimes the top three keys (1, 2 & 3) gets stuck. As they said, it only happens when you press the keys a certain way.
Most of the complaints are firmware related. Upgrading to the latest (R2L, as per SESS-Makati), should resolve most of the problems.
Sabi nga nila, kung walang sira huwag mong ayusin

. That's why I'm waiting for

to release the next firmware (R3?).
Sorry, I couldn't help you with the case. I'm using the small Oakley soft case for mine.

Thanks for the reply dude. I was wondering why the K700i turns off by itself after a while, then you have to press the power button just to turn it on again. Is this the power save feature? It's too irritating to keep pressing the power button after a while.
Is there any SESS in QC area since makati is a long ride. I tried semicon in SM north; they have R2E. Is R2L the latest?
thanks again

When you said that the phone turns itself off after a while, did you mean that the screen goes blank and the backlights turns off, just like on the T6xx but without the clock?
When it does this, try pressing any button on the keypad. Does it come on or does it stay off/dark?

@alfaromeo777 - If you opted for an 'almost' perfect fone, then you should have not gotten your Mom an SE K700i handset mate

Is a Nokia 6230 or even a 7610 available as well when you got the plan at Globe

, if so, then you should have taken those instead mate

Many of us here got used with the 'bugs', maybe in due time you will too mate . . . Good Luck!

have it upgraded with the new software, R2L. My fone is free from any bugs. Well, since i bought it, i had no problems with the system, just the battery. but after that, my battery lasts for three days.

@cracker - It goes off; then to turn it on - you have to press (not hold) the power button. I've set the light to automatic but still the same. the only difference is it shows a clock instead of a blank screen. Is this normal?
@JN - 7610's symbian OS is too complicated for my mom while 6230 has small screen and she hates the design. She was the one who opted for the K700i. Well not really, I manipulated her to choose it over the Nokias. hehe
@tom - Know of any SESS in QC area with the new R2L firmware? Semicon north edsa has R2E. What significant improvemnts over R2A?
Where are your K700i's made? Mine is made in china..
thanks.

nes is right. Any button on the keypad will bring the phone to life.

And yes, this is normal. The TFT screen uses so much of the battery that it has to be made to 'sleep' to save power.
As for the service centers, only SESS-makati has the R2L as of the moment. Give it a week or two and the other service centers/points will have it. Or you can tell them yourself.
