Hi,

about 1 hour ago i my p900 fell about 2ft off the top of my computer cabinet and landed directly into my large cup of coffee , fully submersing it. Now i managed to get it open pretty quickly and dry out the mainboard etc so now it comes back on. The problem i`m having is with the screen . The bottom half of it is slightly darker than the top . It still responds to touch so i can still use the phone. I think its the coffee that has actually got into the screen. Will this dry out at all and go back to normall or am i looking at fitting a new screen??

On a side note the flip buttons light up but do not respond to presses. Is there a way of opening that up or am i destined for a "flip removed" phone from now on?

thanks in advance

ceebs.

It should dry out some more, but I would recommend that you claim for it under insurance, if you have any.

Will water damage be covered?

Yes, make sure it's totally dry, and if you can, carefully rub down the PCB, screen, etc. with some kind of alcohol wipe (I use Sterets - pre-injection swabs with isopropyl alcohol on) to get any remains of coffee off. That stuff is sticky when it dries!

Or you can buy a special electronic cleaner spray which can clean it and remove all the fluids and stains. Then let it dry. You have to do this at least two times.

thanks guys, it seems i may have cleaned it in time. The flip pad has now come back to life and the screen seems to be clearing a little.

a lucky escape!

If need be, your insurance should cover you for a dunk, mine does. I would claim anyway, even if it is working, and get a spanking new phone. Thats what insurance is for, after all!

all is ok now . everything seems dry. the screen was a bit wonky but now all the blotching has gone. Makes me realise now why i spent £500 on a phone. Anyway i`m gonna use it for my holiday next week and then claim it on the insurance along with my laptop which just happened to be in the same bag i *cough* dropped *cough* lol

thanks all for your help.
