Using Sman, I can see the following programs are running :

Sman : 84k
Handy Day 2004 (v1.0) : 124k

Hidden apps :
Flipkeypad : 48k
EiksrvBackdrop : 492k
Applications : 80k
Beamer : 64k
Appicker : 52k

Resulting in free internal memory : 44% (7280kb)

With 16384kb internal memory, 7280kb seems a bit meager. Does this seem correct ?

@dafmay,

this is what i have...

Flipkeypad 48K
Sman 104K
EiksrvBackdrop 516K
Beamer 64K
Application 84K
Appiker 52K

and i have 32% (or 5260KB) free, which substantially less than you. can someone explain this to me?

I have:

Flipkeypad 48k
Sman 136k
EiksrvBackdrop 588k
Applications 104k
Beamer 84k
Appicker 64k

33% = 5496k

Check out this thread: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=66042#post858676

The less space on your C: drive, the less memory you have.
EDIT: The above sentence is a bit exaggerated. I experienced having very little memory when i had next to no space left in my C: drive, if you have several megabytes available, there won't be a problem.

memory???
do you mean storage or RAM.
I think C is only storage

This thread is about RAM (where applications are running), as opposed to drives ("storage", where applications are kept for long term).

SMan will not tell you what really takes up RAM space, because it does not list the dozens of system processes that run continuously in the background (and eat up lots of RAM).

The reason I asked was this...
I'm not pretty convinced that drive space on C is related to RAM, unless someone knows a good explanation for that? Does the P900 do virtual memory (swap)?

It's not related in any sense.

No.

Yeah that figures, with over 8000kb of ram "missing" from Sman-overview

If I run several programs, not the real heavy ones like Vrally tho, internal memory will drop to 10-15%. Then the phone will start closing apps automatically. So it's very plausible that SE upped the amount of memory in the upcoming P910. Shame they didn't give the P900 a bit more than they did.

In the Sman 1.3 thread (I guess), ajack or droll (dont remember who) explained the RAM phenomenon.
SMan reports only the RAM usage with which the program started, but misses out on dynamic allocations that the program does later. Hence if xyz started with 100kb... and then as you worked with it, took 500kb at some point... sman will show 100kb against that program, but 500kb would be reduced from the total. If you kill the prog at that point, 500kb will be released.
