What's the quickest way to send an SMS after a phone call to some cell phone?

Szenario: You went through your contacts to find a mobile number you want to dial. You call that person but it isn't available. Now you want to send an SMS to that person. What's the quickest way to do it? I want to avoid going through the contacts again. From the call list I don't see any way to achieve it.

BTW: Solutions for flip open and flip closed wanted.

Thanks in advance for any hints.

If you are asking about how to send an sms to an unsaved number in your phone, this is how i do it (on my T230) go to messages> write new> type the message> press yes and then press the option key and select unsaved numbers from the list. All the unsaved numbers will be displayed. Chose the number to which you want to send it. I dunno if this works on the P900/910! There is also a shortcut key on the T230 where you have to keep the left arrow key pressed and it directly goes to the 'write new ' menu. This message was posted from a T230

to be honest does it really matter? it may take an extra ooh.... 15 seconds or so to go through the menu's. i really cant see any scenarios in which u'd desperately need to send an sms directly after a call. get a f**kin life

No, that's not what I meant. I have the number in my contacts. But I have hundreds of numbers in the contacts. So, browsing all the contacts to find the number is kind of redundant as I already did that when phoning the person. The call attempt is in the call log. I wonder why it isn't possible to start an SMS from there.

Again, is there really no "shortcut" way other than go through all the contacts again?

You can at least bypass your long contact list
Go to call log, select the entry
Edit->Copy number

Start SMS, paste number and send (erhhh... dont forget to write a message)
thats the quickest I know.

BTW, how often does this scenario arise? Unless you always call someone and not find them almost always. Another option is to reply to an existing SMS if this is a frequently communicated number.

Not sure if this is what you want..?

open flip...click contacts...open the contact you wish to call.. click on the number you wish to call... (making call) no reply.. click end call... then click on sms message envelope next to contact mobile number.... bingo...you just created sms to your contact..

Doh, how could I have missed that! Thanks, dannycol! For both, flip open and flip closed mode, the screen returns to the contact details after hanging up the previous call if it was started from contacts. From the contact details you can then start the SMS immediately.

It couldn't be easier! I have no idea why I missed that earlier. But is shows the usefulness of this forum. :-)
