Does anyone know of an IM for the P-Series that works over O2 PAYG GPRS?
The ones I've tried in the past just don't seem to work & neither will Orange Scribble

O2 PAYG GPRS does not allow you to access or download any content other than that from a HTTP Protocall. The only thing you can do is phone O2 to ativate (expensive) WEB GPRS Profile on your sim. Or just use the Csd settings.

If you have a online sim, keep your CSD settings and use them to connect to a MSN app...

CSD is 'dial-up' or 'gsm' wap. CSD = Cicuit Switched Data.
I recommend jMSN Pro. It's easily the best MSN emulator on UIQ. Can be expensive though.. for a free option, try the newest version of Agile Messenger.

Thanks.
So Agile Messanger will work with dial-up but there's no way to use GPRS.

Anything will work with CSD (even FTP), but it peaks at bout 0.8kbps so it's quite useless. I have an Internet Profile activated on my O2 PAYG sim so I can use a range of protocalls (pop3, ftp, for example), thats the only way to access an MSN or other IM emulator on GPRS.

And I guess the free O2 GPRS doesn't work on the Internet Profile.

This is a problem that many people had/have, especially when O2 was free. Its also one I have tried to explain more times than I have had hot dinners
there are two types of data account on GPRS. One is wap and the other is internet using HTTP protocol as mentioned earlier. The O2 PAYG is wap and this is no good for apps such as agile messenger, scribble etc that you mention.
I have only ever seen one person post success on o2 with this kind of app and that was thecopperfield and she did post what she did in a thread or two...
here is one for example but take a look through her other posts as there maybe a more detailed answer
I've never used o2 so cannot add more than that
