I've just started experimenting a little with file transfers between a PC and T-310 and Z-600 phones using software that came on the supplied Z-600 CD-ROM and stuff I've come across on the Internet.
I use an infra-red USB dongle for the actual transferring hardware. Seems to work fine although I'm still trying to work out some software.

Anyway, when it comes to sounds and ringtones I have a few questions:

1) What kind of file formats are accepted by the phones? I've already figured out that standard MIDI files work fine. How about sampled audio? It would be great to have a voice saying something every time someone rings, or some sound effect I can't recreate with MIDI files.

2) I've just been in Japan and heard some really cool ring tones. Very cute and electronic, but definitely not the thin, traditional "beep beep" sort of old fashioned ringtones we're used to here in the west.
Anyone know what kind of formats are used in Japan, if they can be used on western style GSM phones and if they can be freely downloaded from somewhere?
I hate the usual silly pop music ringtones, and would rather have an actual signal or sound effect (or a voice and sound effect) tell me when someone is calling.

3) Any (PC) software that allows me to make my own ringtones?
