My friend has a T68 and she was playing about with it and she has now made the area code appear on the display under the UK Vodafone bit... does anyone know how to get rid of it, I had a look and I can't see anything on any menus!

You have to admit that is about as un intuitive a place for that option that you can think of.
Why would you put cell info under SMS messaging options? Truly bizarre!

I have been asking myself the same question...

Does anybody know the reason for the cell display to be under the sms menu?

has probbaly some strange idea that it's related to SMS it would be more logical to place it under the Settings menu as on Nokia phones.

I think it is because the cells send out SMS messages which pass the information to the handset. Thus it is placed under the SMS menu.

Cell information is not a SMS message... Area information is kind of SMS message...

you mean the "Cell information"? very few network operator uses this feature... if it does exist the operator has the possibility to send out small text info in each GSM cell.. for example if you are in a mall (which often has it's own cells), the name of the mall can be displayed underneath the operator's name in the display.
