Hi.

I'm having problems with the XTNDConnect PC program.

Sometimes it connects, but mostly when I want to synchronize it says:

"Unable to detect phone. Verify that nothing is blocking the infrared link or that the cable is securely connected"

I'm using IR, and I am very sure that nothing blocks the signal, becuase I have absolutely no problems sending background images throug the IR connection.

Has anybody else experienced the same problem ?

I should say, that sometimes it works, and it syncronizes, but it is only one out of 50 times. I'm using Win XP and the phone is T68.

Hope somebody can help...

Had the same problem, solved by decreasing IR-speed to 9600.

Well, that's what happend when you are using XP. The Ericsson software isn't compatible with Windows XP, so a poor solution is yes, to lower the IR speed... if that will work att all...

Thanks.

But sometimes when I increase the speed it works for a moment, then I have to decrease at again. Then the next time it won't work with 9600 and I try to increase it again, then it works. And sometimes no matter what the speed is it just wont connect.

It is very unstable...

Well...
...M$ did a big mistake when they changed/added the IRDA-stack to NT (2000, XP), it was an addon in NT4 and that worked fine...
...it might be the power management for the IR support that is troublesome, I have bad experiences of that for COM (serial) ports in win2000. There is a patch available for COM, but not for IR as far as I know. The patch for COM solved the synch problems with cable that I had...

I am having a similar problem, but this time with a serial data cable.
Everything seems to work OK until I get an incoming text message. Then I can't connect to the phone.
I have also found that if I use package 4 and take advantage of the text message integration in Outlook that my e-mail message sending is affected. I have to go into the outbox and open and send each e-mail again. All can be solved by a reboot, but that is really annoying in the middle of my working day.

Any others having a similar problem?

It seems to be related both to Outlook and the phone, I've been using the Ericsson software to sync my work calendar to the phone for a couple of weeks and have similar problems but they seem to come and go. Sometimes powering the phone off and back on cures it, sometimes I restart Outlook to get it to work, is just seems flaky. My T68m has got firmware version R1B, maybe the later revisions are more stable?

Cheers,
Matt

To get best result in XP , i recomend that you download the software for T65 wich has been prowed to work best in XP with all newer phones souch as T68 , T39m , T68i , R520m . The speed of the IR port should not be higher than 115200 kbs , IR-Com is recomended for Win200 , also works fine on XP sometimes but that system supports IR Sockets , but IR-COm are needed if you plan to use the phones modem . Ir Com can be downloaded from http://www.telesupport.se .
and T65 Software from http://wap.sonyericsson.com .
