I'm coming to the end of a 12 month contract with t-mobile and am interested in upgrading my handset.

I looked on t-mobiles site and it says i will have to pay the handset price plus an additional upgrade fee.

Is this correct? My 02 contract allowed me to upgrade free to any of the phones they were giving away free on my tariff......

I guess it depends on who you are dealing with. My 12 month contract with Vodafone is up in one months time - but I bought it via Carphone Warehouse, so its them I deal with for an upgrade, and they said I could upgrade for free to either the K700i or the Nokia 6230. Vodafone themselves didnt come into it - and infact im going to port to O2 so I can have a nice clean K700i that plays MP3 ringtones!

I would query what you've been told - you are in a good position as you dont have to stay with t-mob now your contract is up - if they dont give you what you want, you just port your number somewhere else! It often helps if you can tell them what you can get if you go elsewhere - they then know what they have to do to keep you as a customer.

Cheers...Michelleski

That doesnt sound right. If you were trying to upgrade before the 12 months was up then what you have said sounds correct. They should do you some sort of free upgrade after a year. I would give them a ring if i were you.

depends how much you spend a month, depends if your in your 12th month yet, depends how you speak to them.

i got a free K700i, but not after constant back and forth between T-Mobile & CarPhoneWareHouse.

you have to threaten T-Mobile with leaving most of the time to get what you want and even now they're trying to palm people of with 18 month contracts in exchange for free upgrades....it's ridiculous.
