Why did SE decide to go with 101x80 passive lcd, rather than say, a 128x80 active? To save $20?? Also, blue & silver case with GREEN key illumination? Weird. Otherwise a great device..

Welcome here! U are right in these points, but se has done many weird things where is no logical answer. Maybe for reducing the costs.

20$ is not much in one unit but if you save 20$ per 10.000 units you save a lot of money.
