The new government of Singapore asked officially from the youth people of the country to send their opinions for the long-term future of the country using modern technology, from their e-mail to short written messages from mobile. This invitation became immediately after the preliminary statements of the new Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong last Thursday, as he promised to create a better Singapore. For the record, Singapore acquired her independence from the Malaysian Federation in 1965. Now residents that were born from that year and after, are called to contribute with their opinion using all means, as telephone, fax, e-mail, even written messages. According to the new minister of Community Growth/Development Vivian Balakrishnan the new government wants: "...the new residents of Singapore to be involved in the subjects that concern them and come out in front and express their opinion."
The intentions of the new government, are also spotted through the statements of Prime Minister immediately after he took over: "Our population should feel free to expresses different opinions, seek the innovation, escape from the banalities." At the end, the President of Democracy SR Nathan encouraged Mr. Lee to keep his promises and to call the young Singaporians to deal actively with international and local problems. According to the new goverment, young persons of Singapore prefer a more relaxed way of life without restrictions. The minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Wong Even Seng declared recently: "The majority of young persons of our country has travelled enough, and seeks to be informed of whats going on international and thanks to Internet and the rest means of mass information they are not citizens of Singapore only, but citizens of the world."

I don't think it helps to build better and more justice society. Red tapes will be red tapes and they are able to promise everything to get to power. It's the same in all countries of the world.

You display a very cynical view of the world, not just in this thread, but in previous threads. I know that you lived under communism for many years, but, fantastic as it may sound, some politicians do genuinely care. Not every politician or government oppresses its people or lives in opulent luxury whilst the majority have to queue for bread. A little optimism goes a long way; politicians and governments will never change for the better if everyone continuously distrusts them.
