You can flash the T310 fw to T300. It's practically the same phone and it was done in the past. But I don't recommend you to flash it with T230 fw, as T230 don't have IR.

Does that mean that the T230 could have ir if it is flashed with a T300 fw?

No. You don't have ir on t230 and no firmware will add it. It's a hardware thing.

I don't want to flame you dude but what you said is so stupid it made me laugh constantly for 2 minutes
@java4t300: Yes you will as there will be no software handling the infrared port. Flash it to the latest T310 fw that would be much better

I don't think it's such a good idea to tamper with the firmware, and to use a firmware intended for one phone model in another phone model. A specific firmware is normally made for a specific phone model, even if there are a few exceptions.
As the firmware, among other things, takes care of the interface with the hardware modules (screen, Bluetooth, infrared, battery, memory card, keypad, ...), which differs from phone model to phone model, it's probable that you end up with a useless phone. In worst case irrevocably, I guess.
And if you tamper with the firmware it will definitely void anything close to a guarantee (warrant)!
