For information about Bluetooth, take a look at Bluetooth.org - The Official Bluetooth Membership Site.

I use Bluetooth for phone to phone and phone to wireless handsfree headset communications.

I find data transfer to be the greatest use both between phone&phone and phone&PC.
Also you can use a wireless Bluetooth handsfree headset.

'Discoverable' or 'visible' means your phone can be detected by other devices so they can send u things etc.

But one thing? What is Bluethooth?

was developed for short range wireless connections, speed ~780kbps, To connect pheripherals to computers. This expanded to laptops, cell phones and others. is not one killer app like wifi (connect wireless to the internet), but is many things for different applications. Examples: connect printer to computer, or connect a headset to a cellphone, or exchange data between two cell phones and many more.

@etaab - I guess the ever famous 'bluejacking' will be put on hold for the moment , because of the 'Caribe' virus which can be acquired thru 'bluetooth' !

Bluetooth is much better and faster than Infrared and data cable when transferring datas !
