Guys I'm in need of help. Recently I reformatted my internal mem after doing a backup. The "find melody" function works fine b4 I restore the backup. But when I've restored the backup, I somehow am unable to change my ring tone in the contacts. When I choose "find melody" I get error msg "Program Contacts...Reason code KERN-EXEC....Reason number 3". Worse when I try to change the ring tone from the "phone preferance" under "sounds and alert", the phone restarts all over again!
Does that mean my ringtone file in the backup is corrupted? If so is there anyway I can get all the other info from the backup without the ring tone bit. I cant neglect the backup all together coz I have so many other stuff that I need to restore to my phone. Pls help...thanks in advance

when you restore the backup, it should give you the option of what you want to restore, i cant remeber what the options are but thats gonna be the only way i can think of.

Thanks for the fast reply. I think the only option provided when you do a restore is either internal mem or both internal mem and mem stick. I dont think there is any way where you can choose which part of the backup you want to restore aside from the simple division above (if there is a way....pls reply). I need to do a restore of everything else except my phone book (contact) and maybe my ring tone.....maybe that will solve the problem. Thanks again....more ideas please. Any other ideas how to solve the problem is appreciated too.
Anyone knows what the stupid error message means?

Hi @all
I'm having the same problem, please help!
I also restored my phone yesterday
And now the phone crashes and restarts every time I choose the
"find melody" from the "ring combo-box" at the "sounds and alerts" screen.
Thanks,
Urias

To be honest I never found out how I managed to "repair" the problem. All i did was do a backup and restore a few times and then it started working ok again after that. Maybe its now ur files that are corrupted, maybe the restore didnt restore 100% hence when the phone is trying to read the incomplete files, it labels it as corrupted. Just try and do backup and restore and see if it works, if not sorry my friend u'll have to a)mater reset or b)reformat the phone or c)live with the fact that you wont be able to change ur ring tones again. Hope u've done ur backups.

Thanks @alpal
problem solved
The problem accured because
I restored an old backup (backup_0) of the internal memory in order to
recover all my calendar entries which were deleted accidently.
Before I restored the internal memory I backuped the current one (backup_1)
So the solution was simple - I sync the calendar of backup_0, then I
restored back to backup_1
and after that I sync with the office calendar and recovered the
entries.
