OK I am new to this forum. currently I have a T610 and a Psion 5 MX I am looking to replace both with a P910 when they become available.
I find I don't use the keyboard on the 5MX anywhere near as much as I used to.
However there are a lot of programs which are must haves on the series 5 which I am struggling with .. in some cases I have found a direct replacement (Tome raider PDF+ for example) in others what I think are alternatives but I would be grateful for any observations on differences/similarities between the 2 and problems I will experience on upgrading?
Contacts .. obviously built in but I am assuming it will be able to import exported data?? vcf.
Data .. I can export as CSV text so can Handy base deal with this?
Powerbase .. can't find an equivalent.. this is a proper database, with some relational functions ..it can also havefar more field types including calculated and images .. any ideas?
Encrypt It .. this is a hash encryption program that manages individual file encryption. It is useful because it allows the file to be launched form the dektop .. de-encrypted (after password) on the fly and sent to the native application. On exit it is re-encrypted.. There doesn't seem to be an alternative. ... Power protect is just an encrypted folder system as far as I can see and requires files to be manually encrypted an de-encrypted?
Word spreadsheet etc .. Quick Office Premier Ok I guess but no spellchecker, etc etc Don't symbian make spreadsheet & WP for the latest software versions?
Notepad .. an outliner I think project looks close but cannot link to word documents or spreadsheets?
Tom Tom citymaps .. Wayfinder Mobile MapGuide is so unclear .. It looks like this downloads maps etc on demand via GPRS but is it possible to store maps locally??
Finally MSN messenger.. this is not on the 5MX but I can see several available for The P900 is one generally accepted as the best, ie closest to desktop functionality?
Thanks for any replies I have a couple of hardware questions but will put them in a seperate post.
