i have a p900, and im on orange. But when using my p900 my signal seems to cut out and change a lot, but my mate (who hasnt got a p900) but it still on ornage has good constant stregth. is this a problem with the p900 that its signal is not very good/reliable or is it a fault?

i particularly notice it when i take it off the screen saver and off keylock - it seems to take a good ten seconds to find signal, even in the centre of town. any ideas?

cheers

I had a problem a couple weeks ago, for a day I had no signal, couldn't receive text messages or calls, until the night when i received loads of text and voicemail messages...never happened again.

I never struggle with my signal & I cover a lot of towns & cities with work.
In Preston now I have full signal.

You may notice it jump up & down a lot more than other phones which is cos SE phones refresh the signal bars more frequently I think I remember reading.

Sman has a module to give you your exact signal strength (not sure how accurate though)

@SC26

I have found that in busy areas, my P900 takes a relatively long time to get access to the network after losing the signal. I would have to say I wait up to 2 mins before I can make a call after leaving my building at work (I lose the signal in the lift). I guess this might be something todo with the wait time the P900 has before trying again for a network connection. I find it much quicker to turn the phone off and back on again.

Also, when I had my T68 and my T610. I had to have 3 replacements because of dodgy antennae. Rarely getting a signal and when I did, I would make a call and the signal would go again.

Quicker than turning the phone off & on would be to press on the signal meter & turn Flight Mode on & off again.
After turning Flight Mode off my P9 get signal within seconds.

I’m generally very happy with reception on my new 990 .I’m in Dublin City, Ireland where there is pretty good Vodafone coverage. However, I’ve noticed the same problem that Vpoil reported with the 990 – if I lose a signal in an underground car park or whatever it will take forever for the phone to pick up a signal again . The “emergency numbers only” sign will often stay on until I manually reconnect by turning flight mode on and off. Wonder if there is anything in the software that can be tweaked to make radio look for signal faster after an outage? Hope this isn’t a sign that the radio itself is weaker than the one in my old nokia!
