> De-Branding Z1010 Firmware
Bookmark topic
Hi,
Ive got a Z1010 bought from 3 here in Sydney Aus. 3 has branded the phone and limited access to certain features so Im thinking of flashing it with standard SE firmware when its availiable here.
In a Z1010 forum on the Aussie 3g site (www.aussie3g.com) a user has posted the following in regard to flashing a Z1010 with standard firmware:
"I'd be very carefull if I where you... Not to be the pessimistic one... but as has been said on this board before, the Z1010 has an encrypted firmware core and only a limited number of people have acces to the code's... normally a repair shop would have the cabling, software, BUT NOT the code to do ANY update and then call in with the serial of the phone and get the corresponding code... and SE is rather strickt about going to unlocked firmware... I'm not having any luck here in sweden...
And the most annoying part... One of my best friends is working in the department that has these code's... and he refuses to let me borrow a kit... because they are marked with their owner, ie traceable... (It didn't even work getting him drunk...)"
Can anyone shed any light on this issue?
Thanks
Rambler
