Just to get this straight, I've sent it to a SE Service Centre for a firmware upgrade.
Can this be done because it's O2 Branded? Just some people say no and only sim free bought phones can be but some say yes it can be done.

Reason I ask was O2 denied it was possible. SE said there was no newer firmware (which there obviously is) but Hays Technology said they will not know till they recieve the handset, but I know someone from T-Mobile who has had it done fine.
Hopefully should cure the battery life crap.

there are firmware updates for unbranded phones but its up to the phones companies to decide when they want to implement any of the fixes into their branded firmware and you will only be able to update when they do that
