Hi,

My Vodafone contract runs out this month and I would like to switch to o2, mainly due to the free texts.

Even if I get it unlocked by Vodafone will I be able to use an o2 sim card as I assume that all the Live! crap will still be on it.

Cheers

phone locking and phone branding are two separate things

if you get the phone unlocked it means you can use any sim card in it even though the vodafone live stuff will still be present.

you'll have to setup new data accounts etc for o2 etc in order to use wap

or just switch to O2 and get a new contract + A new phone. then get free texts, free wap and free calls. You could even get your old number put across, so you won't need to tell people a new number.

Just phoned Vodafone "customer services", they won't let me cancel my contract because I didn't know my password. I haven't even used it before!!

Anyway been told to go to the Vodafone store with 2 proofs of id to sort it out. Also I have heard that you need to cancel the contract in writing, what does this need to include and who should I send it to?

Afraid I will be saying goodbye to my T610 : ( and will be using my bro's old Nokia 6100, what a step back!!

what you need to do is ring vodaphone and ask for a PAC code, they will then probably transfer you through to a retention team who will try and keep you on vodaphone etc. just tell them you want this PAC code and they will issue you with one, then all you do is got into a shop with this and sign up for a new contract with o2 it takes around 5 days to transfer everything over you get to keep your old number get an unbranded phone and most of the deals that you get with o2.

(from a friend @ o2)

also you dont need to cancel the contract in writing...thats how they would prefer it but it isnt necessary...trust me on that one...

just ring and ask for the PAC code and you wont have any problems....

they'll offer u allsorts depending on how much your bill is per month

Phoned up about the PAC code today and got told to phone back tomorrow as the generator thingy they use wasn't available due to it being a bank holiday so will have to phone tomorrow.

Unfortunately I won't be getting a new phone as it is a sim only deal which is £5 cheaper than the equivalent with a new phone.

Looks like I will be trying to get my T610 reflashed as I've spent the past couple of days trying out the Nokia 6100, oh my god it sucks so much!!

Took the T610 to a small local phone shop and after about 15 minutes they told me they couldn't do it. Is there anywhere I can get the cables and software to do this myself? Surely it can't be that hard!!
