> Globe icon won't disappear (k700i)

The globe in the main screen won't disappear unless you turn the phone off then on again. It's very irritating to have to restart it just to get rid of the globe icon. I have closed all active connections by pressing and holding the back button. I have R2L .. what to do? thanks

Yup, it should mean that i'm connected to GPRS. but even after closing all active connections, it's still there.. These little bugs, if it is indeed a bug, is making me want to switch to Nokias.. SE do something!!!

Well i have the same problem oddly enough on my Nokia 7610, i have a small white 'G' to indicate GPRS that will never go away

That "G" or globe will not go away, unless:
You are out of reach of GPRS coverage (and GSM for that matter).
You block GPRS access at your network profider (you can't send MMS or wap anymore)
As long as you don't generate data (up/downloading) you won't have any expenses for using the GPRS.

well just do this u have been connected automaticly just make a fake connection GPRS connection. Then make it as a preffered connection/ defult then it wont connect.

It uses more battery life though, so its nice to deactivate it if it isnt needed.
Maybe there is a disconnect timer set somewhere, thats a bit high?

I no another thing u could do go to Connect -then Data comm then go to pref. service and select GSM then it will take it off but if ur going to connect again just highligh GPRS
