Hi all
After finally getting a 128mb card I wanted to get some music on it.
I started with MP3 @ 64kbps 44mhz stereo but found that I could only get around 40 songs.
After reading up on a couple of websites and then experimenting a bit, I've discovered that I can get a very good sounding .MP4 file at around 500Kb per minute (based on a 2min20sec song @ 1,173Kb).
The only problem is that I can't put the .MP4 files anywhere other than in the Video folder and the bloody audio apps that I've tried won't look in any other folder other than the Audio folder for files!!!!!
Anyone know what I can do?
by the way, I create a MP3 file @ 64kbps 22mhz (stereo?) and it came out at 1,920Kb and sounded worse in my opinion.
Cheers

You can move files with Sman but the audio programs wont read mp4`s. the only way you will be able to play them is in video player which looks in the video directory.

Okay, I've managed to move the file but the audio players (inbuilt MusicPlayer and UnrealPlayer) can't see the file - I'm assuming this is because it's an MP4 file?
Anyone know of an audio player that will recognise this format?
I know that PVPlayer will play the file but then it doesn't work like a "jukebox" player and doesn't work when the flip is closed etc Grrrrrrrr
Cheers

Dont use MP3(Pro), just convert it to 64kbps Ogg Vorbis files with dBpowerAMP. Or you can use the Sman file Manager to Cut&Paste files from the video to the audio folder, but in my opinion, make it Ogg Vorbis files and play those with OggPlay or Unreal Player 2.2 (my favourite!).

Why dont you convert your music files to .ogg and use oggplay to play them
This will give you a smaller file size

Okay...seems I'm being outvoted here!
I'll try the same file as an ogg and post back shortly with files sizes and my opinion on the quality compared to the other two.

Hi all
Okay, the results are in!
the same track @ 48kbps (from memory...or it may have been 44?) and 44mhz came in at 771Kb!
Sound wise, it sounds good on my P900 and that's all I'm concerned with!
...and, it's supported by unrealPlayer - which is also a bonus (hell, ya gotta be able to play the damn things regardless of how small ya can get them

)
Cheers all

oops, forgot to mention...as an added bonus, I can copy these ogg files directly into the audio folder with no problems
I don't think I'll need to go for the 64kbps as the 48(?) sounded fine and I can then get more tracks on my memory stick.
Cheers again guys
