yeah, the 6230 sure is a funny phone.
it doesn't support ALL .3gp files either. iloaded some .3gp files from my computer, and when i try to play them, the phone restarts!!
some files play (with qcif filenames), but the majority of .3gp files don't...

That's because 3gp is just a wrapper and can include basicly anything on earth. Usually it contains two streams: video and audio. 6230 supports H.263 and MPEG-4 VSP video codecs and AMR audio codec. If something else is included to the 3gp-file, 6230 doesn't play it. You cannot say from the file extension whether it should be played or not.

LOL, you Nokia lovers are funny. Trying to defend them until the end ;op
Many clips that 6230 doesn´t play do K700 play (Yes all the clips have been 3gp)
Have they fixed so you can send stuff direct to the memorystick now? ;o)
All people talking about extern memory in 6230 but they never buy any more than that 32 Mb. Funny people

And you probably don't have any clue what I was talking about in my previous post... Maybe I have to explain it again to the SE lovers...
As I said before, 3gp is just a WRAPPER, which can include basicly whatever video or whatever audio. However, terminals don't support whatever codecs today. 6230 supports H.263 and MPEG-4 VSP video codecs and AMR audio codec and as far as I know K700 also supports AAC. If the 3gp include something else than these supported codecs it obviously doesn't work. Understood??

I understood the first time. But my point was that Nokia have big problems in making phones being compatible to many formats. Have even had problems in playing some mp3 songs because they had a high bitrate. no probs in k700. Problems with many formats of pictures, problems with big pictures in phone. No probs with K700.

Well, I don't think they are trying to made phones compatible as many formats as possible, but to make them to comply to common standards (3GPP etc.). If every vendor would follow these standards, there shouldn't be any major interoperability problems. But as we know that's unfortunately not the situation today.
