I sent an MMS the other day and the receiver was sent a text message with a url and a password to download it from rather than an mms? :S

Maybe the receiver does not have phone, which support MMS? Or maybe his/her phone is not (correctly) set to use MMS.

This does happen if the other person doesnt have MMS set up for his or her phone or simply doesnt have a phone which can receive MMS`s.

You have to send one MMS on the receiving phone) to enable MMS delivery. Vodafone's net assumes that you cannot receive MMS until you've proven the opposite (by sending one of your own).

Even if the person has a phone that can receive MMS and if all the settings are correct as well, the person might still not receive any MMS until he/she enables MMS option on their account with Vodafone.

Above, might be the case for instance, if the phone was bought SIM free as opposed to from Vodafone directly.
