I became astonished when i discovered the new MIDP 2.0 SE phones don't have JSR 82! This java API permits java midlets to access the bluetooth port of the phone. Not having it means programmers cant make multiplayer games or for instance bluejacking apps for k700, s700, k500, z1010, etc. Only P900. This is very stupid, because it cuts the possibilitie of creating real powerfull midp 2 apps and games. If even mophum has access to bluetooth, wy dont they put it in midp 2? this could be changed via firmware if

I totally agree. It is rather stupid.. Most applications for the s60 use the bluetooth port, and i think this is what halts programmers and there are actually NO applications for the K700 so far...

Why SE accepts mophum to have BT acess and doensn´t give it to midp 2.0?

Official response from Sony Ericsson
Your request for JSR-82 is duly noted and we do understand this need. Sony Ericsson was amongst the very first to deliver a JSR-82 phone to the market in P900. The recently launched P910 also features JSR-82.
The K700 does not support JSR-82 in any firmware and we have no plans to add this in a future firmware release of K700. This also applies to Z1010 and S700.
However, Sony Ericsson will have JSR-82 support in future Bluetooth enabled phones during 2005.

Probably they can support/include this in the future upgrade but the point is they have to look onto various other current issues like battery power consumption, as we know that running java apps consumes a lot of power and if u use
alongwith java.... i guess they have to first optimise their fw in such a way that it uses minimum battery power imo.
