Ok, so it’s one thing for a cellphone to have a bug in it, it happens, but there’s a defect in Siemens’ 65 series of cellphones (including the C65, M65, S65, SL65, CV65, CT65, CXV65, and CXT65) that could potentially result in hearing loss. The risk is really low, but apparently there’s a problem with the software where if a call gets cut off because of low battery it may play a disconnection melody such a dangerously high volume that it could potentially damage your hearing. Siemens isn’t issuing a patch or a recall, but they are strongly recommending that users deactivate the disconnection melody.

all telecom fans know this, but the people don't know this. but i don't think siemens is gonna tell this in the news, cause there business hasn't been very profitable.

Siemens releases patch for series 65 phones
Siemens AG has received the green light from operators to offer a patch for a software defect in some of its 65 series mobile phones that could cause hearing damage, the Munich-based manufacturer said Tuesday in a statement.
In a laboratory test, company researchers discovered that when batteries in this series run down during a call, the disconnection warning tune can play extremely loudly and cause ear damage.
On Aug. 26, Siemens warned of the defect and advised customers to deactivate the disconnection tune until it released a software patch for its 65 series mobile phones, including the C65, CX65, M65, S65 and SL65, as well as the CV65, CT65, CXV65 and CXT65.
The patch required testing and approval by the mobile phones operators before Siemens could offer it, according to the manufacturer.
The software can be downloaded at:
www.siemens-mobile.com/software65.
Customers can also have the software upgraded free of charge at local Siemens customer service centers and selected retailers and network operators.
In the future, Siemens plans to offer an automatic software upgrading service via mobile phone operators. Under the service, small components will be updated automatically when required, instead of replacing the entire device software, the company said.
