I was wondering how to keep the gprs connection alive after I exit the browser

One reason might be that some operators charge per session. The session ends after a certain period of inactivity. If you can keep the connection alive, the session does not end.

As i know u cannot. Do suffer of it since t610, even r520 has that feature and do miss it.

I too have had the same problem, trying to keep the GPRS session active. My provider in Australia charges 22c per connection. This was not an issue with my T68m, but a big problem with the K700.
After a few days of playing around, I realised that the session stays active if you use the email client to check your email. So, all you need to do is set your browser WAP profile to be the default Email profile for checking mails.
Depending on your provider, you may or may not successfully be able to check your emails (due to WAP gateway restrictions). But, the session will remain active and you can browse WAP pages without killing the session when you exit the browser.

I usually cleared the cache by staying connected, mostly cos of esato, now i had to find another way to it.
