Does any one have the correct device settings for the Phone and Mac. I have tried in vien to get my Mac, Powerbook on line using a Ericsson T-630 via bluetooth on the Cingular GPRS network. I have talked to Cingular, Apple and Ericsson and none of them have a clue as to how it is done. I have succesfully configured the WAP service on the T-630, but have yet been able to get the Powerbook to go online us the phone as a bluetooth modem. The phone will talk to the computer via bluetooth but fails to go online. Cingular, whom charges upwards of $80 a month has no support for phones not puchased through them. They tell me to go to the developers fourm on their site to look for the info myself.

Powerbook info:
1.25 GHz
Mac OS X 10.3.5
Bluetooth

Phone:
Sony Ericsson T-630 unlocked (not purchased from cingular which they do not support)
GPRS
WAP enabled working
Text messaging working

Wireless Service:
Cingular
Data Connect Active (Included Data 5 MB) NOT WORKING
MEdia net enabled working

Thanks

Tommy g

hi tommy,

i am able to connect to internet via DLink BT adapter. this is what i have

carrier: T-Mobile in California
P900
Mac G4 laptop

1. are you able to get online from your phone? if so, GPRS on your phone is fine.
2. then you need the proper connect string for Bluetooth on your Mac
bluetooth -> ppp -> telephone number
i have *99***2# for t-mobile. not sure what cingular uses

then you should be able to connect.

my problem is that i get disconnected about 15 minutes or so everytime, and it's most annoying. staying connected is very iffy.

let me know if this works for you.

@Tommmmyg,

please let us know if you get it to work. also, a very nice guy Symbiatico provided me the proper Mac settings for my timeout issue.

if you somehow manage to get past the connection, then you may want to check out this thread i posted regarding timeout issue.

i have been connected for close to 1 hour now without getting disconneted. many thanks to Symbiatico.
